We wanted to drop a quick update and answer a few questions about all things Mercury Men!

WHERE IS THE RELEASE DATE?

I know I sound like a broken record, and it's not the answer you were hoping for, but we will be announcing it soon.  We're not holding the series back to make you mad or try to artifically build fervor.  We are trying to get the series released as soon as possible.  We worked really hard so of course we want you to see it and we wish you could see it RIGHT NOW!  We're smack in the middle of negotiating licensing/distribution offers and until we're done and signed we've got to keep quiet.  These things take longer than anyone would like, but that's a part of this business.  (No wonder it took nearly 20 years to get a 4th Indiana Jones made.)  I can assure you that discussions on all fronts have been going VERY well and should it continue that way, The Mercury Men may be premiering on what I think is a great place.

We've been getting questions like: why not just release a few episodes?  Often times, other series', like the most recent Pioneer 1 or the upcoming SOLO, release their first episode(s) to drum up interest in the project so that they may secure funding/donations for later installments.  The Mercury Men doesn't need further funding, the first season is done.  So by releasing an episode early we risk devaluing the project to licensors/distributors.  They are paying for the right to show the ENTIRE series.

Other viewers/readers ask: why not just release it on your own, on YouTube?  While that is an option, and many great series' have had tremendous success building on word of mouth, we believe the quality of The Mercury Men is high enough to warrant teaming up with the "right" licensor/distributor to get it out to as many viewers as possible from day one.

As always, we GREATLY appreciate both your interest in our story and desire to see it RIGHT NOW.  In the meantime we'll continue to produce as much as we're able to, be it digital props, looks behind-the-scenes, or goofy retro commercials.

WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON NOW?

I don't want Mercury Men to just be about watching the episodes.  That's evident by our collection of digital props and behind-the-scenes video journals.  So now that our focus has moved away from the production of the actual series itself, we've begun to create much more supporting story elements.  Right now I'm working on a series of digital props called "Jack's Journal."

While developing the series, we created a very large and rich universe and backstory.  Unfortunately we're only able to share a small amount of that throughout the 10 seven minute episodes.  This is a way I get to share a bit more.  The Jack Yaeger character carries a moleskin notebook, our version of the Indiana Jones grail diary.  As each episode premieres, we'll release another entry from Jack's notebook, which elaborate on characters, items, weapons, and places from the Mercury Men universe.  Sort of a digital scrapbook of our journey through the story.  Those viewers that just want to watch something fun can enjoy the episodes as they are.  Those that want a deeper experience can learn much more.

So all this week I've been collecting, scanning, drawing, and putting together the journal pages in preparation for our eventual release.  So I guess this means my handwriting has officially become Jack's handwriting :)
