EPISODE TWO - 'SKYSCRAPER SABOTEURS'
Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 9:00AM The nefarious plot of The Mercury Men revealed!
Since episode one was focused on both introducing the main characters and a classic shoot out, episode two was aimed at pulling back the curtain to reveal why the men of Mercury had come in the first place. Like the first episode, much of the story is revealed visually as Jack and Edward follow the invaders down through the building. We witness the events simultaneously with them and never know any more or less about the world than they do.
We also begin to see the character dynamics between Jack and Edward. Jack is confident and assertive while Edward is timid and overwhelmed. Jack is constantly pulling Edward (often times literally) through this section of the story.
I have to admit that I originally had some reservations with the "pulling down the moon" plot. I was afraid that it might be a bit too silly, but I figured with a retro serial you can get away with some stuff you might not be able to in a purely modern film. You'll also see in future episodes that it lends itself to some great visuals. And of course I knew we'd probably draw a few comparisons from viewers who have played Majora's Mask :)
A bit of behind-the-scenes trvia: the two Mercury Engineer's seen working on the Gravity Engine were played by myself (Chris) and Curt Wootton (Jack Yaeger). Curt is hidden behind the Gravity Engine since he's not as tall and lanky as the other actors who typically play the invaders.

WOW, 2nd part and already they are going to destroy the planet :) I love these shows, hope they do more! Still reminds of me Mystery Theater an old time radio broadcast, where small episodes were played out, building up to even more danger! For those who have never had the joy of experiencing old time radio, visit Old Time Radio Theater.

Thanks guys! New episodes EVERY Monday through Friday.
Because we humans have a bad habit of giving derogatory nicknames to that which is different from us I'm considering calling them "glow sticks", single-use, disposable light sources. Since there seems to be clues to suggest that the Mercury invaders are tools of another nefarious and as-yet unseen puppet master, the nickname should work in several ways as they do seem to be disposable front ranking pawns or tools.
